Band Spotlight

Eliza Claffy is a musician, songwriter, and artist from West Chester, Pennsylvania. Now based in Philadelphia, her newest solo project invites the listener to hang out with her in a playground of sound and melody! Raised in a family of musicians and nourished by every musical food group imaginable, she has refined her diet toward an indie-pop sound, still paying homage to all of her eclectic influences. Music might have a crush on Eliza, we’re not quite sure (it hasn’t returned our calls yet).

Hesh Mesh is a self-produced multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and recording artist that blends folk, jangle, surf and some kind of soul into guitar and harmony-driven songs.

Dual Identity is a boundary-pushing jazz fusion group based in Philadelphia. While earlier iterations of the band explored different configurations, the current lineup—solidified in the fall of 2024—features Steve Perry on vibraphone and drums, Noah Uy on guitar and drums, Josh Klamka on keyboards, and Rodrigo Pichardo on bass. The band’s hybrid approach includes Perry and Uy changing instruments, creating a dynamic and unique listening experience. Known for high-energy performances and adventurous original compositions, Dual Identity has performed throughout Philadelphia at venues like Chris’ Jazz Café, Bob and Barbara’s, Nostalgia Fishtown, Cellar Dog, and West Philly Porchfest. Their debut live album, captured across multiple shows, is currently in production.

Cheri and the Whipped Cream is a psych-funk-rock band that leans heavily into campy ‘70s aesthetics and absolutely enchants any audience they’re put in front of. Powerhouse vocalist Cheri Green fronts the band and immediately commands the full attention of every room she’s in. With big eyes and an even bigger afro, 23-year-old Cheri has the confidence and soul of a seasoned rock and roll veteran. And her career is just getting started.

Last year, Cheri and the Whipped Cream made history as the first-ever Black opener of the Fishtown Music and Arts Festival and immediately made fans out of the crowd. Lead singer Cheri has performed with funk legends George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic at Asbury Park’s Stone Pony and the Keswick Theater, and with Durand Bernarr as a surprise guest at his sold-out show at Union Transfer. The band has also featured at Spruce Street Harbor Park and the clown-themed Unbirthday Party at Warehouse on Watts. Most recently, they headlined an intimate show at Ortlieb’s in Northern Liberties.

Shock Tea plays melodic indie rock with a psychedelic edge. Big hooks, hypnotic riffs, and one instrument nobody expects that sparks curiosity.
